Every GreenStar certification needs a verifier. The rest are optional — but projects that bring a green-literate architect or builder in at the design stage generally reach a higher level for less money than the ones that retrofit the checklist at framing.

The Institute’s list is people it has personally trained or worked alongside. If none of them are close to your project, these national directories are the next place to look — and any competent HERS rater or Home Energy Score assessor can be trained up on GreenStar.
Ask the Institute for a referralThere are two ways in, and neither is a fee. Complete one of the GreenHome Institute’s certification trainings, or work on a project that earns a green certification with the Institute’s assistance. Then ask to be added.
